Check out my interview with Canadian Artist Jae Ari

Jade P.

1. Artist name and where did it originated from?

  • My name is Jae Ari. Well, Jae is what I've been always called from when I was a child and is an abbreviation of my real name. Ari means King. It also means a bunch of other prestigious things in other languages which I encourage folks to check out.

2. Where are you from?

  • I'm from Toronto, Canada. Currently reside in Ajax, Ontario which is about 25 minutes outside of the city.

3. Influences/inspirations?

  • My influences and inspirations vary. I'm influenced from music, people, art and my environment. Even pursuing a higher consciousness is a form of influence to me. I'm a very self-aware person, my inspirations is rooted in self-improvement. I talk about it often on Twitter because it something that is important to me. I'm passionate about it because its a driving force that leads to results and opportunities to do and be something great. The purest kind of inspiration is when it just happens, you're least expecting it and there it is, moving you deeply into something that I'm able to translate into a song. It's pretty cool.

4. What makes your music different than other singers ?

  • I'm original and take pride in it. So many artists I hear I can hear similarities right off the bat. Sometimes its subtle other times it's right blatantly in your face but nowadays there's almost an expectation to sound like what's trending/popping. I mean I get it but it is still pure mimicry and its something I don't stand for. I think that is what people appreciate about what I do, it's commonly heard from my listeners and supporters that my music is different. My voice is distinct and my message is clear, it's refreshingly good.

5. Dream collab?

  • Off the top? That's difficult, but, Jon Connor, Kid Cudi, Miguel and Jorja Smith. They would be really cool to work with. Some artists from my city as well. Dream record label would be No ID's Artium Records. It's totally my lane and the artists on there would be such a promising collaboration. We put some numbers on the board for sure!

6. Favorite rapper and why?

  • My favorite rapper is Jae Ari because he bets on himself and he is an underdog. Self-reliant, truly an independent artist, underexposed with refreshingly good music. I look forward to hearing more from him in 2018 ;)

7. Where do you see yourself In 10 years?

  • I see myself providing forms of mentor ship and added value within the music and entertainment industry. A new business field not necessarily tied within the same industry but exploring other walks of life. Much more pragmatic. Setting goals for myself and hitting them. Definitely will be enterprising; seeking new talent, solidifying new ventures and above all having a refined mindset. What's important to me is helping my people particularly the ones who have the credentials but not the opportunity they deserve. Leadership and of course, still, some great music.

8. Favorite album?

  • I have so many favorite albums I don't know where to start. So many to choose from, even like the genre. I definitely do not have just one favorite album. My favorite genres are R&B, Soul, Hip Hop/Rap and some Pop. Little bit of Electronic and Indie, too.

9. Upcoming projects?

  • I'm releasing a new single January 17th called You Waited. It's like a Trap Ballad. It's different not something I usually do. It features Victoria Ventrici and its produced by Lef7y. It's a banger. Wait for it.

10. Fun fact about you?

  • I actually rap.
