1. Rap name and where did it originate from?
Throughout high school I went through a few different names. The very first name I made for myself was "mc starfox". I had Justin Bieber hair that kind of flip out and friends would say I looked like a fox so I thought it was a good name at the time. After developing more with my music I felt like it was a new chapter for me and I needed a better name, something that stuck out more and matched my personality. Half of the time I'm really out there and quick witted, some might say annoying at times and slightly vulgar, the other half of the time I'm as calm as can be and keep to myself and that's where the name "At Ease" came from. Once I made the switch to that name I stuck with it, It felt like a perfect fit for who I am.
2. Where are you from?
I was born and raised in auburn California. And after 24 years I'm still here
3. Influences/inspirations?
Like every other white rapper Eminem was a starting influence. But my biggest influence was atmosphere. The beats, the lyrics, the flow, the over all vibe that slug put out on those beats was mesmerizing to me, he really made me fall in love with hip hop. Also living legends, Jurassic 5, Zion I, cunninlynguists, common market, people under the stairs, and brother Ali were all great influences. When I'm not listening to hip hop I'm probably bumping some blues music like B.B king, or something random like the devil makes three or sugar ray.
4. What makes your music different than other rappers/producers?
It's really hard for me to pinpoint what's different about my music unless we're comparing me to certain artists, but People have told me that I have a sound/style unlike most artists they hear these days. I just want to be as honest as I can with the songs I put out. I can't write the song unless a truly feel passionate about what I'm writing about. How I see it is there's two types of ways to write, there's "bars"and there's "breakthrough bars". When people write "bars" their going all out on the metaphors, wordplay, flow, ect. I have a lot of respect for people that do that because it's not easy. Me on the other hand I like the "breakthrough bars", the story telling, the passion, the relatable topics and scenarios. And then there's people that can do both, and those are the people that really stand out, those are the artists that will really make a name for themselves
5. Dream collab?
My dream collab will always be slug. Rhymsayers is my direction. I'm hoping one day it'll happen
6. Favorite rapper and why?
My favorite rapper is currently Joyner Lucas, he's one of a kind. He's got some amazing song topics and videos, plus his flow is crazy.
7. Where do you see yourself In 10 years?
I would love to be on tour promoting an album but in all honestly I'll probably still be working a job that I don't like still hustling my music on the side. I don't know what the future holds but it could go either way.
8. Favorite album?
I actually can't pick a favorite album because there so are so many good albums out there.
9. Upcoming projects?
I feel like I'm still finding myself as an artists so I'm not planning on creating any new projects at the moment, I'm going to focus on improving myself and my music and drop singles for now until i build up a good following. There no reason to drop an album if no ones is listening or knows who I am, so once I get some attention then you can expect some real projects.
10. Fun fact about you?
There's really no fun facts about me. Im just an average dude trying not to drown in the everyday struggles of life. I was the kid in high school that always had his headphones on and was always looking for new music. Iv loved, Iv lost, Iv lived in my car for years with my dog, turns out no one wants to rent an apartment or house to someone who owns a pit bull. I'll give anything to be able to keep writing/recording music even if it takes me nowhere. When your laying on your death bed and you gonna look back and think "I'm really glad I stayed at that job I hated", or are you gonna think "damn I should have taken the risk and chased my dream".
