1. Rap/Artist name and where did it originated from?

  • My name is "J $OUL, & before I was fully committed to my solo rap career, I was in a rap group known as the "Premature Old $OULS". The members in the group names all ended with $OUL, & mine was simply "J" because of my nickname growing up & my middle name is Jamal.

2. Where are you from?

  • I'm from the Bronx, New York, I moved to Broward County when I was 7 years old.

3. Influences/inspirations?

  • My biggest influences are Kendrick Lamar, J. Cole, Ab-Soul, Tupac, Eminem & Andre 3000.

4. What makes your music different than other rappers/producers?

  • What makes my music different is my ability to connect my listeners with basic life experiences that they can relate to. Also, the diversity of my music, I touch a wide spectrum of sounds & flows, from love ballads to hardcore raps. I pride myself in that.

5. Dream collab?

  • Kendrick Lamar & J. Cole as artists. Also, Terrace Martin (saxophonist), & Canei Finch (producer).

6. Favorite rapper and why?

  • Kendrick Lamar, because his ability to put his city & lifestyle into a perspective where the simplest mind could grasp it. His lyrics & striking wordplay are unmatched, but it's his messages in every single song that stick with me.

7. Where do you see yourself In 10 years?

  • On a world tour with my gang, stopping at elementary schools along the way, speaking to the youth, & giving back to the less fortunate kids.

8. Favorite album?

  • Kendrick Lamar's "To Pimp a Butterfly".

9. Upcoming projects?

  • Actually 2 in fact, I have a solo project releasing before this upcoming summer, & a collab tape with my partner ZAY $OUL.

10. Fun fact about you?

  • Basketball was my first love, I still love it, when I get on the court, I get the same feeling when I'm on the stage in front of a large crowd.
